 INGREDIENTS

You can grab all the ingredients you need for this candy at your local supermarket. Don't be afraid to jazz it up and make it your own! Are pecans not your thing? Feel free to use any nut you like.

  • 14 oz caramels (unwrapped)
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 1½ cups pecans (chopped)
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies
  • 3 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1½ teaspoon shortening

  • Caramels - 14 ounces of unwrapped caramel squares or one standard-sized bag. I like Kraft brand caramels best for a creamier caramel consistency.
  • Water -3 tablespoons of water.
  • Pecans - 1 ½ cups of chopped pecans.
  • Rice Krispies -1 cup of Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal or puffed rice cereal.
  • Chocolate Chips - 3 cups of milk chocolate chips.
  • Shortening - 1 ½ teaspoon of shortening.

  • PROCEDURE:

It's so simple - in just 10 minutes, you can whip up these scrumptious chocolate billionaires! Just grab your saucepan, baking sheets, and some microwave-safe glass bowls, and you'll have enough to give away two dozen of these treats. Have some fun and make someone's day!

1.MAKE THE CANDY FILLING
  • Prep. To begin, prepare 2 baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper (or wax paper that has been greased).
  • Heat caramels. Add your 4 ounces of caramels and 3 tablespoons of water to a large saucepan and place it over low heat.
  • Melt caramels. Cook, occasionally stirring until the caramels have melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add ingredients. Gently stir in the 1 cup of Rice Krispies and 1 ½ cups of chopped pecans until well combined.
  • Chill candy. Drop rounded teaspoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheets. Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and allow them to chill for 10 minutes.

  • 2.
    MAKE THE CHOCOLATE COATING

  • Combine the chocolate-coating ingredients. Meanwhile, combine 3 cups of chocolate chips and 1 ½ teaspoons of shortening in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Microwave chocolate. Microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds and then stir. Continue to heat the chocolate in 15-second increments, stirring in between each one, until melted and smooth.
  • Cover candy with chocolate. Remove the chilled candy from the fridge and dip each ball into the melted chocolate, using a fork to flip the candy over, making sure to coat the candy entirely. Then, place the chocolate-coated balls back onto the baking sheet.
  • Set chocolate. Place the baking sheets back into the refrigerator until the chocolate has set.

  • 3.
